The House of Representatives passed a bill last night that, if also passed in the Senate, will approve massive cuts to essential services to Americans that we have already paid for. Arguably the most critical of these cuts will be to Medicaid, one of the programs that Donald Trump and President Musk said very specifically in an interview with Sean Hannity last week would not be touched*.

Trump-Musk Interview with Hannity on Valentine's Day: the Bromance is Real

Nothing, it seems, is sacred at this point.

Democrats certainly didn’t vote for any of this, and I don’t believe that many Republicans – who are in areas that will likely be hit hardest – voted for this either. At this point, it may feel like we constituents have very little agency over this runaway government, but the truth is we do have one critical point of power: our tax dollars. I can’t say this more plainly:

IF YOU OWE MONEY, CONSIDER FILING AN EXTENSION**.

The extension filing deadline is October 15th, 2025 at which time our Federal landscape may look very different. At the moment, it’s not clear where your Federal tax dollars are going and – as the Trump-Musk administration just fired 6,700 IRS employees from an already understaffed agency at the beginning of tax season (a fiscally idiotic move if there ever was one) – who will be handling those dollars when they get there.

Exercise your personal power as an American in this political climate. Withhold your money; it seems to be the only language the new Administration understands and they think we're too stupid to realize what they're doing.

In reality, only the profoundly stupid would think they were smarter than the entirety of the American public. In the words of the great Bill Engvall, Congressional Republicans: Here's Your Sign.

Here's your sign: the new administration's consistently stupid cuts
